Sparky Tales, a 12-week bibliotherapy-based wellness program that focuses on increasing social skills, will be implemented at Edison Elementary School beginning in January, 2013. Two classrooms will receive pre and post tests.

Sparky Tales has been designed based on Saarni’s Theory of Emotional Competency, aligns with the Ohio Benchmarks, and includes the standards established by ASCA. The bibliotherapy focuses on two main characters; Sparky, a 500-year old star and Kelly, a 12-year old girl who believes she has a miserable life. Sparky takes her to the Galaxy All-Star Camp where she learns to become a star in her own right.

The curriculum was field tested and proved to be statistically significant in 5 out of the 8 areas tested.

Please contact us if you would be interested in having Sparky Tales implemented at your school, library or organization.
